Wooden Surfboards
Built to Order
Each board is made to order, ensuring you receive something built around how and where you surf. Lead times are typically 4–6 weeks (excluding delivery), although we occasionally have a small number of boards available from the workshop.
Design Process
We can design your board together — refining dimensions, outline and setup to suit how and where you surf. I work from tried and tested templates as a starting point, then adapt things from there. Shape3D helps fine-tune the details, while the build stays grounded in craftsmanship.
Materials & Construction
We use natural reinforcement fibres such as flax or basalt, combined with bio-based epoxy and hard wax oil finishes. Rails can be shaped in traditional wood or cork, with optional solid nose or tail sections for increased durability and ding resistance.
Get in Touch
If you have something specific in mind, we can design your board together — refining dimensions, outline, and setup to suit how and where you surf.
We also build paipos and bellyboards — simple, fast, and direct forms of surfcraft that offer a different connection to the wave.
Paipos & Bellyboards
Prone surfcraft offer a simple, direct connection with the wave. Ridden lying down, they are fast, intuitive, and suited to a wide range of riders and conditions.
Our bellyboards, bodyboards, and paipos are handcrafted from sustainably sourced wood, combining traditional surfcraft heritage with durable, low-impact construction.
Shortboards - S Series
Perfect for maneuverability and speed. Designed for performance, they help you catch those quick waves while maintaining control and stability.
Mid-Length - M Series
Mids provide the best of both worlds, for all waves and suitable for every surfer. Enjoy the versatility and maneuverability that adapts to style and conditions. A mid-length board is a must in anyones quiver!
Longboards - L Series
Built for endurance and glide, our longboards offer a classic surfing experience. Ideal for all skill levels, they provide a smooth ride and excellent stability on the water.

Prone Surfcraft
Bellyboards & Paipos
Simple, fast and direct -
Surfcraft that strips things back to the essentials.

BellyBoards

Each board is steam-formed and hand-shaped from sustainable marine birch, allowing the timber to settle naturally into its final curve. The result is a strong, responsive board that’s built to last.
Finished either in eco acrylic or left natural to showcase the grain, then sealed with raw linseed oil for protection and durability.

Paipo
Rooted in traditional prone surfcraft, paipos offer a fast, intuitive and playful ride.
Made from sustainably sourced paulownia grown in Spain, each board is hand-shaped with a wider, thicker profile than a standard bellyboard — creating speed, lift and control across a range of conditions.
Hand-channelled for added grip and finished with raw linseed oil, they deliver a smooth, flowing ride while remaining completely free from harmful plastics.

The theory of it all
The ocean deserves equipment made with the same integrity as the waves themselves.
Nothing rushed, nothing synthetic for the sake of convenience.
Just honest materials, thoughtful craft, and a deep respect for where the board will live.
Most people go to the sea to escape.
We go to understand it — its rhythm, its patience, its power.
That’s the theory.
Wooden Surf Craft
Surfing started with wood.
Before industry, before foam, before mass production — there was craft, weight, flow, and connection.
The idea is simple:
when you choose wood, you return to surfing’s true feel.
A board that moves with intention.
A glide shaped by nature, not chemicals.
Something alive beneath your hands.
Paulownia
Lightweight. Stable. Naturally saltwater-resistant.
Strong without heaviness. Beautiful without excess treatment. Sustainably grown.
We use materials that work with the sea, not against it.
Finished with natural fibres — basalt and flax — bio epoxy resins, and hard wax oils, each board remains tactile, durable, and breathable.
If the ocean could choose a timber, it would choose paulownia.
The Vision
Sustainably grown wood instead of foam.
Hard wax oils and bio epoxy instead of polyester resin.
Boards designed to last years, not seasons.
Processes that honour the environment rather than harm it.
The sea gives endlessly...The theory is to give back.
Why theory
Committed to sustainability and quality, using eco-conscious materials to build boards that not only perform beautifully, but belong in the environment they’re used in.

About the Shaper

Hi, I’m Matt.
I live in Conil de la Frontera, where the Atlantic rolls into El Palmar, Los Bateles, and Fuente del Gallo in long, steady breaths. Those waves feel far from the cold, sharp waters of Porthcawl in South Wales, where I first learned how the sea can calm everything.
Art has always shaped my life — from playing bass in dimly lit rooms to chasing a Michelin star in a small pub kitchen, reviving centuries-old dishes with modern techniques. I’ve always tried to give beauty form, whether on a plate or through music.
But, the sea has been the one constant. Running toward it with a board under my arm was where I found clarity.
Still, something felt wrong: surfing an ecosystem scarred by plastic on a board made from the same damage. So I began shaping something different — boards that honour the water, built with the same care as my cooking and the same expression as my music. Boards that move like art.
That was the theory,
A theory that became a way of building.
A theory about materials., A theory about joy, simplicity, and respect for the environment.
Handmade. Wooden. Sustainable.
Boards with presence. Boards with purpose.
Boards that feel as good as they ride.
